Former City High prep to join Floyd at UTEP
Former Iowa City High standout Malcolm Moore is set to sign a national letter of intent to play for Tim Floyd at the University of Texas-El Paso Wednesday.
Moore is in his second season at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. The 6-6 forward averaged 15.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a freshman.
His Tyler teammate Mitch Marquis, who played for Martin Bros. AAU in Iowa, is also signing with UTEP.
“Iowa did take a look (at Moore),” Hoopmasters.com recruiting analyst Van Coleman said. “They really liked the things they saw. But he’s similar to the players they have size-wise and skill-wise. If he had waited until spring, Iowa may have gotten involved.”
Texas-El Paso has eight seniors on its roster. Former Iowa State coach Tim Floyd is in his first season at UTEP.
