Ferentz on DJK: “He’ll not play again here”
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz told the Missouri media on a Thursday teleconference that Derrell Johnson-Koulianos won’t play at the Insight Bowl.
“He’ll not play again here,” Ferentz said, according to the Kansas City Star.
Johnson-Koulianos was suspended from the Hawkeyes on Tuesday after being charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, running a drug house, and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
Ferentz has not spoken to the Iowa media since issuing this statement on Tuesday — “I am highly disappointed to learn of the charges. Derrell has been suspended from all team activities.”
The assumption was that included playing in the Insight Bowl on Dec. 28 in Tempe, Ariz. Ferentz’s statements on Thursday enforces that assumption.
Johnson-Koulianos — Iowa’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards — had 46 catches this season for 745 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was name first-team all-Big Ten by the coaches.

Good decision, KF, If DJK had played for Michigan Stater he likely would have only missed the first quarter.

“He’ll not play here again.” All one game he has left. I’m not saying he should play, he shouldn’t, but this isn’t exactly the line in the sand it’s being made to be.
The crack about “the best coaching decision” is funny.

Ferentz does *exactly* the right thing and some moron complains about the “way” he said it?
KF is just making it perfectly clear to an out-of-state media source that DJK is done.

Yes, I’m the moron. The guy that writes satire and uses his name instead of some silly moniker.
Not like you, the King of Intellect, who can’t recognize satire and expresses his protest with all the tolerance of a Klan member.
Yep, you nailed it.

You have to admit, Kirk made some bad coaching decisions during the season and was about as inspirational as a pan of cold milk, but you can’t fault his math skills. DJK is a senion, he got suspended for one game, there is one bowl game left, so therefore he will not play another game for Iowa.
Leave it to Coach Ferentz never to do anything the he might be cricized for, or take any risks, such as pass the ball needing 30 yards for to get into field goal range and win the game in regulation with the Big Ten title on the line at Ohio State last year.

Dancing Bull–One of these days you’ll start using 4 letter words.

We’re bringing Dancing Bull along slow. We just moved him up from two-letter words. He’s got a big spelling bee coming up next week and he’s going to be sequestered while he tries to learn “C-a-t.” So don’t get him flustered.

Let’s make him head coach! Can he cash a check? Then he’s quilified!
