Ex-Hawkeye Robinson files appearance on marijuana charge
Former University of Iowa running back Adam Robinson filed paperwork today in Polk County District in lieu of a formal appearance on a marijuana possession charge.

The 21-year-old Hawkeye sophomore opted to file a written appearance on the misdemeanor drug charge. A Polk County judge said Des Moines lawyer Alfredo Parrish was representing Robinson. Parrish did not immediately return a phone message.
Initial appearances are used to inform suspects about charges against them, their rights, and to set bail if they are in custody.
Robinson, the leading rusher for the Hawkeye football team, was dismissed from the program this week after he was cited for marijuana possession during a Dec. 27 traffic stop in Des Moines. The former Des Moines Lincoln standout was a passenger in a car driven by 20-year-old Ermin Zornic when they were stopped an Iowa State Patrol officer. Robinson was released at the scene.
Robinson is the third running back to exit the Iowa program since the regular season ended.
Brandon Wegher, a former Sioux City Heelan standout, left for personal reasons during summer workouts and was granted a release from his scholarship before Christmas.
Jewel Hampton, who suffered knee injuries each of the past two years, transferred a few days later.
All three were expected to contribute this fall, but none was still on the roster when Iowa beat Missouri 27-24 to cap an 8-5 season.

Really, Hawk Central can stop following up on this story.

I totally agree. Robinson REALLY isn’t a high profile athlete. He was average at best. He’s not on the team anymore, so stop wasting your time keeping us “posted” on his legal doings. It’s not even a sports related story anymore. Move on!

Don’t read the story then. Contact the Editor and complain to him or her.

When you can’t write decent sport articles it makes it easy to report on garbage such as this.
Iowa BB and football and other sports have many things to follow that don’t pertain to athletes that no longer belong to this U of Ia programs.

Robinson was a two year contributor with significant accomplishment. If Coker doesn’t run for two bills at the Insight Bowl, I think people would be debating whether Robinson should be a reclamation project. Instead, he’s garbage. So it goes with “what have you done for me lately” big college athletics.
For the record, I think Robinson’s dismissal is warranted and that this follow up is newsworthy.

It is a misdemeanor charge and the outcome is predictable, especially considering his legal counsel. He gets (at most)a relatively small fine, community service, a stayed sentence pending no further violations for a certain amount of time, blah, whatever,…
The only follow up I’m interested in with Robinson is when he joins another football program. That is worth maybe 2 or 3 sentences. Unless he becomes a clone or a panther.

Sorry, but the paper has to cater to more people than what you. I don’t like stories about taxes, so I don’t read them.

Doesn’t stop me from expressing my opinion, which is what these posting opportunities are all about. I fully understand what the press is up to; your reply is rather condescending.
