Kouandjio’s visit confirmed
It’s a go.
Offensive lineman Cyrus Kouandjio from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., will visit the University of Iowa this weekend.
DeMatha coach Bill McGregor confirmed it Wednesday afternoon.
“We worked everything out today,” McGregor said.
McGregor said Iowa assistant coach Darrell Wilson was at DeMatha on Wednesday to finalize the details of the trip.
The 6-foot-7, 325-pound Kouandjio will take the ACT freshman entrance exam Saturday morning then fly to Iowa City.
McGregor said he also expects Kouandjio to visit Auburn next weekend before making a decision.
It now appears that Southern California will not get an official visit from Kouandjio, who is considered by some the top high school offensive lineman in the country.
Kouandjio already has visited Alabama, where his brother plays as an offensive lineman, and New Mexico.
DeMatha defensive lineman Darian Cooper also will take an official visit to Iowa this weekend and will be accompanied on the trip by his mother.
McGregor said Cooper has narrowed his list to Iowa and Michigan State.

Wouldn’t it be a great thing for that kid to get off the plane to a 1000 or so Hawk fans to let him know I.C. is the place to be!!! Anyone have the flight he’s coming in on?

We better pass the hat and see if we can come up with more money for him than Alabama. Oops, did I say that out loud?

Auburn too, eh!? They bought Newton.

I don’t think that was a flack jacket Newton was wearing. Maybe it was his money belt.

The big problem with guys like this is that we only get them for a year or so, if they play as expected then off to the NFL. The best thing is that no one else gets him.

That’s a good point, Rocklinhawk. But I would think most of them would stay till at least the end of their junior season. I’d like to have this guy opening holes for Coker, et. al, for three or even two seasons.

Most linemen consider Iowa because of Ferentz’ coaching and the fact that there are a lot of players from Iowa who make it to the NFL–especially linemen.
However, this guy is big enough that he’ll go to NFL no matter where he plays. So he might pick a team that has a better shot at a national championship like Alabama or even Auburn. (although Auburn can now fall back with the exodus of Newton) Hope he does come to Iowa though!

for starters all that glamour and fame maynot be high on his list he may just want to polish his skills for the nfl since he has to stay in college for 3 years which would benefit iowa
and second if ferentz really wants to show him the fan base iowa has and make an impression on him he should bring him by the wrestling meet since carver really has a similar atmosphere to kinnick on game day cause it was the fans that got us fiedorowicz
