McDonough avenges loss in win at Northwestern
Sophomore Matt McDonough avenged a Midlands loss to Brandon Precin in dramatic style Friday, turning the top-ranked 125-pounder to his back and recording a pin in 6:11 during No. 7 (by WIN Magazine) Iowa’s 31-9 Big Ten win at No. 15 Northwestern. Precin led 3-0 at the time and owned a riding point.
Derek St. John also sprung an upset at 157, scoring two third-period takedowns in a 4-2 win over sixth-ranked Jason Welch.
Mark Ballweg (11-0) remained unbeaten with a pin at 141 pounds.
