Iowa golf 10th, just misses cutoff

Iowa men’s golf needed to finish eighth to extend its season and finished tied for 10th Thursday at the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla.

Iowa shot 296 the final day and finished with a three-round total of 892, which was three strokes back of eighth place Duke.

The top eight teams continue into match play today.

The Hawkeyes were up and down the leader board during the final round, and at times were in the top eight, but fell out near the end.

The finish is the highest ever for the Hawkeyes. The previous high was 17th in 2009.

Junior Chris Brant finished tied for 20th at 4-over to pace the Hawkeyes.
