LINCOLN, Neb. – The Iowa women’s basketball team came within one point of No. 19 Nebraska with about 3 minutes left in a 60-53 loss Thursday, but it couldn’t completely erase a 13-point halftime deficit.
The Cornhuskers (17-3, 6-2 Big Ten) closed the game on an 8-2 run, overcoming a Hawkeyes rally largely spurred by Kamille Wahlin that cut the lead to 52-51 with 3:11 remaining at the Devaney Center.
Wahlin scored nine of Iowa’s final 11 points and hit two free throws that closed the gap to one. But the Hawkeyes (11-10, 3-5) didn’t make another field goal, missing their final six shot attempts.
Jaime Printy led the Hawkeyes with 17 points, but shot just 6-of-19 from the field, including 4-of-12 from long range. Wahlin finished with 11 points and four assists, but also had five of Iowa’s 20 turnovers.
Nebraska led 30-17 at the half but went almost 11 minutes between field goals in the second half, allowing Iowa to storm back with less than 10 minutes to play.

Emily Cady scored after the Hawkeyes had pulled to 52-51 with 3:10 left, and Kaitlyn Burke made it 57-51 when she hit a 3-pointer just before the shot clock expired.
Iowa has lost four of its last five games after winning four of five going into the stretch, which began Jan. 8 with a loss at home against the Huskers.
Iowa returns home at 2 p.m. Saturday to face No. 17 Purdue, which remains undefeated in Big Ten play at 8-0 and is 18-3 overall after beating Northwestern 80-70 Thursday on the road.
