Coker releases statement through Stony Brook
Marcus Coker, who was released from his scholarship at the University of Iowa back on Jan. 10, has confirmed he is enrolled at Stony Brook in New York.
The FCS school has released a statement from Coker and football coach Chuck Priore.
“I’m very grateful to Coach Priore and Stony Brook University for this opportunity,” Coker said. ” During this process, I’ve become aware of Stony Brook’s growing football program and outstanding academics. I’m excited for spring practice and the chance to help my teammates win a fourth straight Big South Championship.”
Stony Brook finished 9-4 last season, ranked 16th in the FCS.
Coach Priore, entering his seventh season as coach, is excited to add Coker, who ran for 1,384 yards last season for the Hawkeyes.
“We are excited that Marcus has decided to continue his education at Stony Brook University,” Priore said. “His ability and skill set will fit well in our offensive schemes. We’re excited to welcome him to the Stony Brook football family.”
Stony Brook said Priore would not have any comment beyond his statement.
