The Iowa baseball team beat South Dakota State 6-2 Tuesday at Duane Banks Field.
“We had a good approach offensively,” Iowa coach Jack Dahm said. “I would have liked to see us score a little more and tack on, but I thought we had good at-bats.”
The Hawkeyes had 12 hits. Mike McQuillan hit 2-for-3 with two runs, Chet Zeise hit 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Phil Keppler hit 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Andrew Host hit 2-forf-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Starter Andrew Hedrick (2-0) pitched 52/3 innings, scattering three hits with four walk and one strikeout.
Iowa is 11-15, while South Dakota State fell to 6-14-1.
