Indianapolis prep picks Hawkeyes
Iowa was the first school to offer defensive end David Kenney a scholarship.
The Indianapolis native has returned the favor by becoming who is believed to be the first player from the 2013 high school senior class to commit to Iowa, according to Scout.com and Rivals.com.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Kenney committed to Iowa on Wednesday while visiting UI with his father. Kenney is ranked as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and the eighth best weak-side defensive end in his class nationally.
Kenney, who attends Pike High School in Indianapolis, picked Iowa over Louisville. He also had scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota and Purdue among other schools.
Kenney’s commitment won’t be official until he signs a national letter of intent in February when he is a senior.
