Former Iowa offensive lineman Eric Steinbach has announced his retirement from the NFL, according to NFL.com.
Steinbach was trying to make a comeback with the Miami Dolphins after missing the 2011 season with a back injury. He started 124 of 125 games before the injury.
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Steinbach in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft. He spent four seasons with the Bengals, followed by five with the Cleveland Browns.
The Dolphins signed him in July.
