James Vandenberg isn’t interested in your criticism.
“In all honesty, I only hear it from you guys,” Vandenberg told the media on Tuesday. “I live in a cave. I go to school and I go to football. And that’s about it in the season.”
Vandenberg didn’t take the bait when asked if he knew some fans are asking for his back-up, redshirt freshman Jake Rudock.
“Not really,” he deadpanned. “All you can do is keep trying to do your job and keep moving forward.”

One thing that James Ferentz doesn’t want to see on Saturday is a team that isn’t excited about playing.
“The thing that glares the most to us, watching the film the last two years (against Minnesota) … Its embarrassing the way we played, the lack of emotion we showed,” Ferentz said. “This game means a lot.”

Brad Rogers is okay being a fullback blocking for another fullback in sophomore Mark Weisman.
“He’s handled it really well,” Rogers said. “I told him some of the stuff I went through, going back and forth. … He’s not struggling at all.”
Rogers has 14 career carries for 83 yards. Weisman now has 338 yards on 53 attempts this fall.
“Before he was going towards the lienbacker, now he’s trying to avoid them,” Rogers said.
