Men's basketball: McCaffery to redshirt freshman Kyle Meyer
IOWA CITY, Ia. – Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery said before Friday’s game with Texas-Pan American that he has decided to redshirt Kyle Meyer, a 6-foot-10 freshman from Alpharetta, Ga.

Kyle Meyer will sit out this season as a redshirt, coach Fran McCaffery said before Friday night's season opener.Meyer will be one of two players redshirting for the Hawkeyes this season. The other is Jarrod Uthoff, a forward from Cedar Rapids Jefferson who transferred to Iowa from Wisconsin over the summer.
Meyer was a four-year starter at Northview High School, averaging 18.2 points and 12.9 rebounds as a senior. He is part of a five-man recruiting class that has been rated among the top 25 in the nation for 2012.
