Iowa women lose to Florida International
MIAMI, Fla. — Jerica Coley made a layup at the buzzer to stun Iowa and lift the Florida International women’s basketball team to a 66-64 home win in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic on Friday. Coley finished with a game-high 31 points.
Iowa’s Claire Till missed two free throws with 8 seconds remaining.
Jaime Printy scored 15 points on 4-for-9 shooting from 3-point territory to lead Iowa in its first game of the tournament. Post Morgan Johnson added 14 points.
The Hawkeyes led 62-54 with 2:34 left on Melissa Dixon’s 3-point field goal. Florida International rallied behind two Coley 3-pointers, the second with 18 seconds left.
Iowa plays again in the tournament Sunday.
