WDM Dowling’s Jon Wisnieski anxious to be part of Hawkeye rebuilding
It’s poaching season in college football, recruits being talked to and offered scholarships by schools other than the ones they have verbally committed.
It will be that way until national letters of intent are signed in February, but so far, no one has tried to change Iowa recruit Jon Wisnieski’s mind. Even if they try, he said they will fail.
The former West Des Moines Dowling Catholic tight end committed to Iowa last summer, and he said Wednesday night that he’s still committed.
“No other schools have talked to me,” he said.
If they do, he’ll give them a polite thanks, but no thanks response.
“I’m committed,” he said. “It wasn’t easy watching them go 4-8, but I’m still strong with my commitment. It’s not the year they wanted, but it doesn’t change how I feel about my commitment.”
Wisnieski said he has remained in contact with Iowa coaches, specifically assistant coach Reese Morgan.
“There’s a lot of work that needs to be done,” Wisnieski said. “I’m prepared to work towards that.”
