Big Ten Network gives Iowa football a dreary forecast

[ 0 ] April 23, 2013 |

The Big Ten Network gave it’s early thoughts on Iowa’s upcoming football season, and things look pretty bleak.

Tom Dienhart of BTN.com doesn’t expect the Hawkeyes to qualify for a bowl game this fall, adding, “The Hawkeyes are trending down. There’s no other way to put it. From 11-2 in 2009 to 8-5, 7-6 and 4-8 last season.”

Brent Yarina, another BTN analyst, points to Iowa’s schedule.

“The Hawkeyes trade Indiana and Penn State for Big Ten favorite Ohio State (road) and three-time reigning champ Wisconsin (home),” Yarina said. “From a talent and schedule perspective, it’s hard to envision Iowa reaching six wins.”
