The Philadelphia Eagles released former Iowa football star Marvin McNutt on Tuesday.

McNutt was promoted to the Eagles’ 53-man roster on Nov. 30, 2012, after spending Weeks 1-12 on the team’s practice squad during his rookie season. He played in four games with no stats.

The Eagles selected McNutt in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

McNutt converted from quarterback to receiver following his freshman season in 2008 and went on to become Iowa’s all-time leading receiver with 2,861 yards and 28 touchdowns on 170 receptions.

He earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors as a senior in 2011 after finishing with 82 catches for a conference-best 1,315 yards and a school record 12 touchdowns.
