Gary Barta expresses concern about Hawkeye baseball program

[ 0 ] May 14, 2013 |

CHICAGO - Iowa athletic director Gary Barta on Tuesday was asked about the status of Hawkeye baseball coach Jack Dahm.

His team is 19-27 heading into this week’s final three-game series at Purdue.

“I don’t mean to be boiler plate, but it’s the way I go about it, and that’s to observe daily and evaluate annually,” Barta said. “At the end of the year, we’ll sit down like I do every year with each coach and talk about what the next step is.”

Barta was asked if he was concerned about the baseball program.

“Any time any of our programs isn’t in the top half (of the Big Ten) or competing for championships, I have concern,” Barta said. “But we really aren’t going to talk about it until the season is over.”
