[ 0 ] May 15, 2013 |

The top two returning scorers on Iowa’s men’s basketball team will be competing for the same thing next month.

Junior forward Aaron White and senior guard Devyn Marble have both been invited to tryouts for the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games team. USA Basketball will release the entire list of invitees at a later date.

The training camp for the U.S. team will be June 24-July 1 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Those making the team will play in the World University Games July 5-17 in Kazan, Russia.

Marble averaged 15 points for the Hawkeyes in a 25-13 season in 2012-13. White was the second-leading scorer at 12.8 points and was Iowa’s leading rebounder at 6.2 a game.

The Iowa team is also headed overseas in August to France and England for five or six exhibition games in Paris and London. The Hawkeyes will also get 10 team practices to prepare for the trip. Redshirts Jarrod Uthoff and Kyle Meyer and incoming freshman Peter Jok will be allowed to take part in the practices and games.
