Iowa basketball programs boast two Parade All-Americans

[ 0 ] May 20, 2013 |

It was a good weekend to be one of Iowa’s best high school basketball players.

Iowa women’s signee Ally Disterhoft, this year’s Miss Basketball, and men’s signee Peter Jok, the state’s Mr. Basketball, were both named to the 2013 Parade All-America teams.

Disterhoft, of Iowa City, and Jok, from West Des Moines Valley, were among 80 high school seniors — 40 in each gender — selected to the teams.

Disterhoft averaged 26.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.2 assists per game as a senior. She led Iowa City West to a state tournament appearance this season after helping her team claim a state title last year.

Disterhoft is an ESPN HoopGurlz Top 100 recruit.

Jok, a 6-foot-6 senior guard, averaged 23.6 points a game while earning Des Moines Sunday Register Class 4-A first-team all-state honors.

The Iowa recruit made 43 percent of his 3-point goals (he hit 56). He also made 92.6 percent of his free throws (126-for-136).
