Burmeister to handle play-by-play for Iowa football opener on BTN

[ 0 ] July 18, 2013 |

A familiar voice will be calling Iowa’s football season opener against Northern Illinois.

Paul Burmeister, a Hawkeye quarterback in the early 1990s, will handle play-by-play duties for the Big Ten Network game on Aug. 31, at 2:30 p.m.

Later in the season, he’ll work a couple games at Nebraska and another at Michigan State.

Burmeister is a studio host for the NFL Network. Central Iowa radio listeners also know him as a regular guest on KXNO’s Murph & Andy program.

He was also a reporter for Cedar Rapids’ KCRG television early in his career.

Jon Jansen, a former NFL offensive lineman from Michigan, will be Burmeister’s partner in the booth.

Northern Illinis finished 12-2 last season, earning an Orange Bowl bid. The Hawkeyes are trying to rebound from a 4-8 record.
