Bowlsby clears the air on Cy-Hawk allegiances

[ 0 ] July 23, 2013 |

DALLAS, Texas – Bob Bowlsby swears he’s not conflicted, but just in case, he plans to be elsewhere when Iowa State hosts Iowa on Sept. 14.

“Probably not,” he said when asked if he would attend the game at Jack Trice Stadium. “There are other games that day. I probably won’t get there.”

Mississippi at Texas would be a logical guess where the Big 12 Conference commissioner will head on that day. Maybe even Tulsa at Oklahoma.

Bowlsby doesn’t know for sure, but he knows where he won’t be – and it has nothing to do with his Cy-Hawk loyalty interests.

He earned his master’s degree at Iowa. He’s in charge of a conference that includes Iowa State.

“I’m always going to be an Iowa alum,” Bowlsby said, “and Iowa State is our member.
“I’m not conflicted, but I can see how some people might think that I am.”
