IOWA CITY, Ia. – University of Iowa graduate Deidre Freeman and Kaylea Arnett claimed a title in the 3-meter synchronized women’s event Saturday at the National Diving Championships.

The pair scored 286.35 points for their first national title together. They edged the second-place pair of Karlee Price and Carolyn Chaney, who totaled 262.56 points.

“It’s amazing. I’m just glad I was able to do it with Kaylea. Before every dive, I just told her ‘let’s have fun’,” said Freeman, a Grinnell native, in a news release. “Being at home has been awesome. It’s been great having people I know able to watch me. Normally I don’t have any fans cheering for me, so it was great having my teammates here to watch me.”

Also Saturday, Sameul Dorman (Tempe, Ariz.) and Hayden Jones (Spring, Texas) won the men’s 3-meter sychronized title, while Samantha Bromberg of Ohio State won the women’s 10-meter final. Steele Johnson and David Dinsmore took the men’s 10-meter synchronized championship.

Dorman became the first winner of two championships after claiming the 1-meter title on Tuesday.
