It wasn’t a total loss for the Iowa football team on Saturday thanks to high school junior offensive lineman Jake Newborg.
He committed to Iowa on Saturday, shortly after his future team had lost to Northern Illinois 30-27 in the season opener at Kinnick Stadium.
The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Newborg, who is a junior at West Lyon High School in northwest Iowa, announced his decision on Twitter.
“Just made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I’ve decided to be a Hawkeye. Dream come true!”
Newborg is believed to be the first player from the 2015 senior class to commit to Iowa.
