IOWA CITY, Ia. – The chances of Iowa cornerback Jordan Lomax playing Saturday went from maybe to doubtful in less than 48 hours.

Lomax is nursing a sore hamstring, which will likely keep him out of the Hawkeyes’ Big Ten opener at Minnesota.

“It’s getting a little frustrating for everybody, mostly for him,” coach Kirk Ferentz said during Tuesday’s press conference. “I was really optimistic on Sunday. I’m not so optimistic today.

“It may be after a couple weeks. I don’t know. We’ll keep playing it day by day.”

Lomax made three tackles and broke up two passes in a season-opening loss to Northern Illinois, but has not played since.

He was replaced in the lineup by freshman Desmond King.
