The “Pryor” moment: A painful reminder for Ferentz

[ 0 ] October 19, 2013 |

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One play created a painful flashback on Saturday for Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz.

Ohio State faced a 3rd-and-7 at Iowa’s 28-yard line early in the fourth quarter of the game tied at 24.

Buckeyes quarterback Braxton Miller became bottled up, but reversed field and turned a drive-ender into 9 yards and a first down — setting up the go-ahead score in the 34-24 victory.

In 2010, mobile Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor reversed field on a 4th-and-10 play that allowed the Buckeyes to beat Iowa, 20-17.

“The Terrelle Pryor moment,” said Ferentz, comparing the two quarterbacks and game impact. “We didn’t do a good job containing there. …  We didn’t give ourselves a chance on that.
