Wisconsin coach expects brutal encounter vs. Hawkeyes

[ 0 ] October 28, 2013 |

In an era when more football teams are running spread offenses, Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen is bracing for a brutal encounter.

Andersen’s Badgers visit Iowa for an 11 a.m. game Saturday.

“It is different,” Andersen said. “We have a little bit of an advantage, playing against ourselves (in practice).

“That’s college football these days. You’ve got to get ready to defend a lot of different things.”

Wisconsin is averaging 296.9 rushing yards per game (eighth most nationally), while Iowa is averaging 188.9 (47th nationally).

The Hawkeyes, however, have struggled the past three games, netting a modest 3.4 yards per carry.

“We’ll line up against a very good offensive line,” Andersen said, “and kind of match strength on strength.”
