IOWA CITY, Ia. – The same question seems to hit Mark Weisman every week.
The Iowa running back has taken his lumps, prompting the media to ask: Will you play Saturday?
“It doesn’t bother me,” Weisman said with a grin. “Injuries are part of football and they’re going to happen.
“It’s something you have to fight through.”
The 6-foot, 236-pound junior was slowed by a sore foot, and then he suffered an elbow sprain last week against Wisconsin.
But, yes, he will play Saturday against Purdue.
Still, Weisman may be showing the wear and tear of a tough season.
He leads Iowa with 747 yards on 158 carries, but over the last four games Weisman has been limited to 132 yards on 39 carries.
“Obviously, it shows on film sometimes that you’re not doing as well as you’d like to do out there,” Weisman said. “You just have to work on that in practice and move forward from it.”
