IOWA CITY, Ia. – Oddsmakers pulled a stunner.
The Iowa football team is listed as a 6-point favorite heading into Saturday’s game against Michigan.
That’s rarely the case when the Hawkeyes and Wolverines play, but it seems especially quirky considering Michigan dominated last year’s meeting 42-17.
“I’m unaware of that,” coach Kirk Ferentz said, when asked about his team being the favorite. “But last year we never even got our hands up, especially in that second quarter. It was over pretty quickly.
“They’ve got a lot of the same faces back from a year ago. I can’t remember a Michigan team that wasn’t extremely talented.”
It should be noted Iowa won three in a row over Michigan from 2009-11.
“I don’t really pay a whole lot of attention to who is favored and who is not,” linebacker James Morris said. “I can tell you most games we’re probably not.
“And in the games we are, it’s certainly no relief to me.”
