BOULDER, Colo. The Iowa women’s basketball team trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half before falling at 16th-ranked Colorado 90-87 on Wednesday night.
Samantha Logic paced the Hawkeyes with 26 points and six assists.
The Hawkeyes, who fell behind 48-35 at the half, rallied to within 50-45 early in the second half. Colorado answered with a 15-2 spurt to move ahead 71-56 in a game of runs.
Iowa wasn’t done, chopping the deficit to 72-68 with 4:54 remaining.
Colorado (3-0) then held off several late Iowa bids to tie the score. Logic and Claire Till both made baskets in the final minute to keep Iowa within one possession of tying the score.
The Hawkeyes missed a chance to upset a second ranked team this season. Iowa topped No. 14 Dayton at home 97-93 in overtime on Nov. 10.
The Hawkeyes (4-1) are 8-5 in their past 13 games against ranked opponents dating back to last season.
Iowa became the first team to score more than 70 points against Colorado in the past 35 games.
The Buffaloes went 15-3 at home one season ago. and won their only other game at home, 83-33, over Alcorn State on Friday.
