Iowans who want to contribute to the Dut Jok Youth Foundation, which honors the late father of Iowa basketball player Peter Jok and Penn basketball player Dau Jok, can do so by contacting University of Iowa student Ryan Frost (ryan-frost@uiowa.edu).

The Joks, teammates at Des Moines Roosevelt, play against each other Friday at 6 p.m. in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Here is Thursday’s story about their journey from Sudan’s civil war to Des Moines.

Dau started the Dut Jok Youth Foundation as a way to empower Southern Sudanese youth through the vehicles of education, recreational sports and leadership building activities, to produce generations of children who are both academically and socially vibrant.

Frost coordinates efforts of the foundation in Iowa City to raise money, collect school supplies like notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc.) and collect soccer balls to donate to the cause.

Those interesting in donating can contact Frost at the e-mail address above. Iowa students can also join the student organization through OrgSync.com.
