University of Iowa athletic officials announced that volleyball coach Sharon Dingman’s contract will not be renewed after six seasons.
Dingman compiled a 66-125 record. The Hawkeyes went 11-21 this season. Iowa Director of Athletics Gary Barta made the announcement today.
“I have enjoyed being the volleyball coach at the University of Iowa and appreciate the opportunity to represent this world class university,” Dingman said in a press release.
Iowa improved its volleyball facilities during Dingman’s reign. The school built a practice facility at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and added a state-of-the-art playing surface.
“I would like to thank the administration for their support and commitment to the volleyball program,” Dingman said in the press release. “I have been blessed to have the most hard-working, dedicated, and positive staff one could ask for. Above all else, I extend my deepest gratitude to the players for their commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the court.”
Dingman was the eighth coach in the program’s history. Her best season record came in 2008, when the Hawkeyes went 14-18.
