Recruit not swayed by Iowa’s loss: ‘I’m a Hawkeye’

[ 0 ] March 13, 2014 |

Junior-college point guard Trey Dickerson has been a source of positive news for Hawkeye fans who have had their spirits tested twice in the last week.

On Saturday, after Iowa’s stunning season-ending home loss to Illinois, Dickerson — a 6-foot-1 point guard from Williston (N.D.) State College — gave a verbal commitment to Fran McCaffery’s Hawkeyes.

On Thursday night, Dickerson re-affirmed his commitment to Iowa on social media after some Twitter users taunted him following the Hawkeyes’ 67-62 first-round loss to 11th seed Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament.

A New York City native, Dickerson averaged 19.8 points and 5.7 assists this past season for Williston. He would have three years of eligibility at Iowa.
