Mike Hardy says Hawkeyes aren’t going hungry

[ 0 ] April 23, 2014 |

An NCAA committee recently approved expanded meal services for student athletes, and defensive end Mike Hardy approves of the decision.

“We get the one meal a day, training table, and then in the weight room there is always supplements and everything for us,” Hardy said. “And then, groceries-wise, I always have food in the house.

“But if they’re going to give us three meals a day, I don’t think anyone is going to complain about that.”

Hardy, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound senior, said a change would be especially beneficial during the summer, when school is out.

“But I’ve never heard of it being that big of a problem,” he said.
