Who hates Iowa? Not the Minnesota athletic director

CHICAGO, Ill. – Where’s the love?

Iowa and Minnesota have a less-than-friendly rivalry.

Iowa and Minnesota have a less-than-friendly rivalry.

Over the year’s Minnesota fans have chanted, “Who hates Iowa? We hate Iowa,” especially during football games.

It’s not a rallying cry that’s been embraced by Minnesota athletic director Norwood Teague.

“It ended up in our game program, which I didn’t know about,” Teague said. “And then, I told our guys to take it out.”

In fact, Teague went as far as to talk with Iowa athletic director Gary Barta about the matter.

“I don’t like the cheer at all,” Teague said. “I hope we can try to steer away from it.

“I think for some kids, it’s funny, takes on a life of its own.”
