…about Iowa’s lack of offensive production the past few years and the predictability (really since 2005). Iowa’s offense has been what Ferentz calls “vintage”.
If Iowa runs the same ole offense in 2012, then we know it’s Ferentz and that it wasn’t O’Keefe (who was the punching bag).
I’ve criticized O’Keefe many times. But, be careful what you wish for.

one important determiner of iowa’s approach will be the roster and the set of skills represented on it. this coupled with kf’s own controlling philosophies suggest no huge changes in iowa’s offense. we might see different play calls in situations; we might see different time management strategies. with mr. rogers on the roster we might see more calls to feature the fb. we likely won’t see jvb running 10 times a game. i wouldn’t be surprised to see plenty of zone blocking, continued use of tight ends and a nominal balance between air and ground attacks.
KF has a philosophy on offense, so, as silver says, I wouldn’t expect major changes. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a more up-tempo system, as well as more spread and screens. Nothing major, but likely some tweaks.
I just hope and pray that with both coordinators he brings in people who are outstanding recruiters, and who will be loyal to Iowa for more than just a few seasons. We don’t want a situation where Iowa becomes another temporary stepping-stone.
