BY USA TODAY Don’t expect a coaching vacancy at UCLA for a while. New coach Steve Alford’s freshly signed UCLA contract features a peculiar buyout clause, according to the Los Angeles Times. If Alford or UCLA wanted to part ways before April 20, 2016, both would be obligated to a $10.4 million buyout. That’s four […]

Then, Alford dribbled the ball directly off his foot. When asked whether Wooden would have handled the 2002 sexual-assault charge against former Iowa player Pierre Pierce […]
One person doesn’t make a successful men’s college basketball program, but one person’s influence can be the difference between success and failure. Iowa fans should know exactly what I mean by that. Fran McCaffery has relied on the help of countless people to rebuild the Iowa men’s basketball program, which faces Baylor in the NIT […]
The former Iowa coach said he followed the orders of the Iowa administration when it came to controversial case.
Let’s start in New Mexico where Steve Alford will soon be like the aliens that supposedly visited the state more than a half century ago. You’ll probably never see Alford set foot in New Mexico again with him being hired at UCLA, but he’ll never be forgotten there. And unlike the aliens, Alford’s six-year stay in New Mexico was witnessed by thousands of Lobo fans on a regular basis.
